Art Gallery Becomes Activist Headquarters

Wrolf and José Fresán bring their anti-police message to EV Gallery in April and May

Pivoting from art to activism, EV Gallery, 621 E. 11th St., kicked off two months of anti-police events April 7 with an exhibition of José Fresán’s marker-on-paper protest posters. The exhibit will be followed in May by Wrolf’s sometimes violent protest photographs in his show Up in Arms.

Fresán is expected to attend receptions at the E. 11th St. gallery on April 22 and 23.

More work by Fresán.

Meanwhile, Wrolf brings his photographs to EV Gallery just in time for NY Art Week Saturday, May 7, with an opening reception 6-9 PM. A closing reception is slated for Tuesday May 24, 6-9 PM. Wrolf notes that his photos “contain violent arrests.”
